Are you sick of spam through your Elementor forms, perhaps the notorious spammer Eric Jones is driving you crazy? Well, I got you! In this video, I share the three easy steps that have helped me get rid of spam for good from my and my client’s websites.
I’m guessing you found this video because you’re really sick of spam through your Elementor forms, or perhaps the notorious Eric Jones is driving you crazy?
Hey everyone, I’m Kelly, and today, I’m going to teach you how to protect your website from spam and get rid of Eric Jones forever.
I host and maintain lots of websites for clients and one of the services that I provide is spam protection and cleanup. Unfortunately, over the years, it seems to be getting harder and harder, and no matter what I try, eventually, the scammers are getting more and more clever, and they’re somehow getting past everything I’ve put in place.
I tried Google reCAPTCHA, but you need to clutter your forms with Google privacy statements. I’ve also tried honeypots, which are a type of hidden field you can add to your form that a normal user won’t fill in, but a bot will. It used to work with one, then I tried two, then I had to use three, and one site I was using six and spam was still getting through.
CleanTalk
So I decided I needed a different solution for this, and that’s when I found the service, CleanTalk, which has made my life so much easier. You can set it up in three easy steps and be rid of all that nasty spam forever, and that is what I’m going to teach you to do today.
1. Installing CleanTalk
If you come over to my WordPress website (you’ll need to log in here, as an administrator user) and then go down to plugins and click on ‘add new’, then do a search for CleanTalk and that’s it: ‘Spam protection’. Click install now and then activate.
2. Connect to CleanTalk
Then we need to connect this up to CleanTalk, which is the service I mentioned earlier. Here’s the website, cleantalk.org, and I’ll link it below in the notes. Then you can enter your email address here and the website address you want to enter. I put my email address in there and then put the website I want to protect in there and then click ‘create account’.
3. Confirm and Synchronise
You get sent a link through, to confirm your email and to confirm your account, and then once you’re in, you can go to the website and log in, like I have here and click on ‘add website’ at the top. I then paste in the URL, like that, click on create and it says it’s been successfully added and that this is the access key. If I copy that there and then go back over here, I just enter my access key like that and click on ‘save changes’. This is then adding, connecting up the website to CleanTalk’s server and you can see now it’s synchronising and now everything is protected.
Now, all of my Elementor registration forms, my comment forms and any other e-commerce, etc. will all be checked before it’s submitted to your website. This should get rid of annoying spam forever.
And that’s it! You just click on ‘save changes’ and it’s all done in just a few minutes.
Thank you so much for watching. I hope that you feel empowered now, to go off and stop all the spam on your website. However, if you’re feeling a bit worried about this, or any aspect of maintaining your website, then come over and register for my workshop ‘Maintain Your WordPress Website with Kelly’ where I’ll teach you everything you need to know to keep your website safe, secure, and fast.
